About Jim Ardis

Mayor Jim Ardis is a lifelong Peorian who has served his community since 1999. His entire career, Jim has worked to make Peoria a great place to grow up, raise a family, and call home. After graduating from the Spalding Institute in 1977, Jim went on to get his degree in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University.

Jim returned home to Peoria with his wife Mimi, who he’s been married to for over 30 years. The couple has raised 3 children and continue to remain active in the community. Jim’s community activities are numerous, most notably participating in the Memphis to Peoria Run for St. Jude. 2018 marked his 24th consecutive year on the 465-mile trek from Memphis.

As a former small business owner and businessman, Jim understands the significant impact local government plays on our economy. Jim also serves as the President of the Board of the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, is past Board President of the Tim Ardis Foundation for Hope, and is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the Peoria Promise.

Jim is currently serving in his 4th term as Mayor of Peoria where he is fighting to keep our neighborhoods safe, right size city government, and invest in our city’s youth.
